The purpose of this project is to:
- Teach families to be self-sufficient by teaching them to garden, raise an animal, and harvest both. Those involved will also learn to build a pen for an animal and set-up and irrigation system for gardening.
- Provide families opportunity to work together.
- Practice the Law of Consecration. (Not all families will choose to participate in the work, but all are invited to share in the harvest.
- Enhance emergency preparedness/self-sufficiency skills (canning classes will follow using harvested vegetables).
- Provide fellowship opportunities among members of the Gila River Ward.
