Gila River Ward Garden and Pig

The purpose of this project is to:

  1. Teach families to be self-sufficient by teaching them to garden, raise an animal, and harvest both. Those involved will also learn to build a pen for an animal and set-up and irrigation system for gardening.

  2. Provide families opportunity to work together.

  3. Practice the Law of Consecration. (Not all families will choose to participate in the work, but all are invited to share in the harvest.

  4. Enhance emergency preparedness/self-sufficiency skills (canning classes will follow using harvested vegetables).

  5. Provide fellowship opportunities among members of the Gila River Ward.
