Updates in the Toolbar

I've updated the Lesson Manual to now show the 2009 edition of Spencer W. Kimball.

Also, the February 2009 First Presidency Message (used for Home Teaching) has been added. I will try to do better at keeping this updated each month.

Running Group

Need a jumpstart on those new year's resolutions?

A few people in the ward have expressed interest in getting together to run on Saturdays. What do you say we start a little running group? We can start out by meeting at Trailside Park on Saturday mornings at 7:00 (we could meet later or earlier if preferred). Everyone is invited! All fitness levels are welcome! Bring the wife, friends, anyone who would like to run. The more the merrier! It doesn't matter if you can run 1 mile or 20. This could provide good opportunities to get in shape, socialize and fellowship, as well as possible missionary opportunities.

Reid Axman is also looking for anyone interested in running a marathon relay in Surprise on January 31. Four more runners are needed. The relay consists of four 5 mile legs, and one 6.2 mile leg for a total of 26.2 miles, a full marathon. If there is enough interest, maybe we can have more than one team! Here is the website for more information: http://www.arizonaroadracers.com/Calendar/2009-desert-classic-marathon.php

For questions regarding either of these opportunities, please contact Reid at reidaxman at gmail dot com.

Baptism Nov. 8th

There will be a baptism this Saturday at 10:30am at the South Mtn building located on 7th Ave and Southern. It is for Chris Conlin he is a 19 year old young man that lives with the Myers and sometimes with the Tryons of the Capital Ward. We could really use the support of the Elders Quorom and your families to be there to welcome Chris into the ward.

Contact Chris Wallin for more information.

Wallin in the Ward Directory or on Gila River Ward website at http://lds.org). Thanks again for your generosity.

District Leaders

Well before I post another thing about the Garden (I'm trying to get away from making this a Garden and Pig blog), here is a list of the newly called District Leaders.

Scott Bowen

Michael Abegg

Curtis Bryan

Matt Wilson

Jason Watson

David King

If you aren't sure who your District Leader is, please catch a member of the Elders Quorum Presidency to look it up for you. You should also be getting calls from these Brethren to follow up with Home Teaching. Please introduce yourself to your new District Leader, so they can put a name with the face.
